The FFG General Programme is the Austrian Research Promotion Agency’s (FFG) main open R&D funding instrument, available to Austrian companies of all sizes. It supports individual R&D projects (new products, processes, or services) and cooperative projects (with research institutions or other companies). Base subsidy rates are 25–35% for large companies, rising to 45–60% for SMEs and startups, and up to 70% for experimental development by small companies. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with a processing time of approximately 3 months. Thematic restrictions are minimal — the project must demonstrate clear innovation above the state of the art.
