EIC Pathfinder funds visionary, high-risk research aimed at developing the scientific foundations for radically new future technologies. It has two tracks: Pathfinder Open (up to €3M for any scientific direction, consortia of at least 3 entities) and Pathfinder Challenges (up to €4M for specific thematic calls). Primarily targets research teams, universities, and science-based startups at TRL 1–4. Successful Pathfinder projects can feed directly into EIC Transition funding for further development toward market.
