GO-Bio Next is a German federal program (BMBF) that funds life sciences spin-offs emerging from academic research. It runs in two phases: Phase 1 (Feasibility, up to ~€1.5M over 2 years) validates commercial viability and team formation, while Phase 2 (Company Formation, up to €2.5M) supports the actual founding and early growth of the biotech startup. Applicants must have a founding team rooted in a German research institution. The program is technology-neutral within life sciences, covering therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, and agricultural biotech.
