The LIFE Programme is the EU’s dedicated funding instrument for environment, nature, and climate action (2021–2027, total budget €5.4B). It operates through four sub-programs: Nature & Biodiversity, Circular Economy & Quality of Life, Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation, and Clean Energy Transition. Projects are co-financed at 55–60% of eligible costs and typically involve a consortium of at least two entities. Project durations range from 2 to 5 years. CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency) manages the program. Not primarily a startup grant — better suited to established companies or NGOs with a credible environmental track record.
